JUSTIN BARKER COMMITS STONEHILL COLLEGE

CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Canucks are proud to announce that 2022-23 Captain Justin Barker has committed to the Division I Stonehill College. This is the second DI commit in the last five seasons and joins Max Prazma who committed to the University of St. Thomas earlier in March. The Calgary Canucks are excited about the resurgence of post-secondary commitments from this season.

Justin was named the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month for December 2022 who compiled a nine-game point streak through the final month of 2022, scoring 11 goals and nine assists for his hometown team. Justin recorded six multi-point games, a hat trick, and two four-point performances in December.  He also scored his first game winning goal of the season and was selected as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game three times.

“Justin has been a leader on and off the ice since joining our team”, say Brad Moran, Calgary Canucks General Manager and Head Coach. “His numbers speak for themselves, and we are very excited Justin has committed to Stonehill University. They have found a diamond in the rough so to speak and I have no doubts he will continue to excel there. Justin will leave a lasting impression on our organization and helped us raise the standard of what it means to be a Canuck. We wish him all the best as he moves on,” says Moran.

Justin would like to thank the coaches and Canucks organization for providing him with a great opportunity to develop on and off the ice for the last two years. “I’d like to thank my teammates for being extremely supportive of me. I’m very excited for my future at Stonehill College and I look forward to making the transition to Division I in the fall”, says Barker.
