The Canmore Eagles are pleased to announce that twenty year-old goaltender Steve Papciak has committed to play at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. The Oles compete in the MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics Conference) in the NCAA Division III.
Steve is from Des Plaines, Illinois, and played parts of three seasons in the AJHL. He joined the Eagles at the end of the 2009-2010 season. This year, he played in 46 regular season games, which ranked fifth in the league. He also earned the Eagles’ award for Humanitarian of the Year for his work with local schools and minor hockey.
The Eagles organization is very happy for Steven and his family; he has worked extremely hard to accomplish this and is very deserving. He is a model citizen and is going to be a very strong addition to the Oles,” says Eagles Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne.
“I want to thank Andrew Milne, Kurtis Jones, Jordan Alford, Darryl Lockwood, and the entire Canmore Eagles organization. My time spent with the Eagles was not only the most valuable of my junior hockey career, but also the most fun. I am truly proud to have graduated as a Canmore Eagle, and look forward to sharing in the continued success of the organization,” said Steve Papciak.
