PAYNE, DE HAAS AND SLYWKA SELECTED FOR AJHL WEEKLY AWARDS

Grande Prairie Storm forward Brandon de Haas is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week after recording nine points (2G, 7A) in a four-game road trip leading into the Holiday Break.

Brandon de Haas (Okotoks, AB) started the road trip as the Bunge AJHL Player of the Game with a goal and two assists in a 4-1 win over the Drumheller Dragons. The next night he collected two more assists in a 3-2 win in Olds against the Grizzlys. Brandon posted two assists in their first loss of the week on December 19th in Canmore, then wrapped up the trip with a goal and an assist in a 7-4 loss to the Calgary Canucks. The Storm were 8-2-0 in their last 10 games of 2025.

The 2006-born is in his second season with the Storm and has already surpassed his point total from last year (25 points) with 31 points in 26 games played, ranking him third in team scoring.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Tristan Payne of the Drumheller Dragons. The 19-year-old defenceman had four points (2G, 2A) in three games and extended his active point streak to four games.

Payne scored the loan Dragons goal in a 4-1 loss to the visiting Storm on December 16th then recorded an assist in a 3-2 win versus the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on December 19th. He was awarded as the Bunge AJHL Player of the Game on December 20th with a goal and an assist in a 5-2 defeat at the Eagles Nest.

Tristan Payne is third in team scoring with 19 points (3G, 16A) in 32 regular season games and sixth overall among AJHL defencemen.

Tristan Slywka of the Whitecourt Wolverines is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week with four points (2G, 2A) from December 15th-21st. The 17-year-old rookie forward enters the holidays on a four-game point streak and tied for third in scoring among all AJHL rookies.

Slywka (Sherwood Park, AB) scored two goals to earn the Bunge AJHL Player of the Game award on December 16th as the Wolverines defeated the Devon Xtreme 4-3. Whitecourt fell 6-1 to the Lloydminster Bobcats on December 19th with Tristan picking up an assist on the Wolverine goal. On December 20th, he recorded his 11th assist of the season in a 6-4 road loss to the Camrose Kodiaks. Slywka has 18 points (7G, 11A) in 31 regular season games of his rookie campaign.

The Whitecourt Wolverines will enter 2026 first in the Bunge AJHL North Division and first overall in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings.
