The Spruce Grove Saints want to be a tough out in the Doyle Cup series against the Wenatchee Wild and took a step in that direction Wednesday.
Facing elimination against the British Columbia Hockey League champion Wild, the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion Saints put in their best effort of the best-of-seven series in a 5-2, Game 4 victory at the Grant Fuhr Arena.
With the win, Spruce Grove staved off elimination, cutting Wenatchee’s series lead to 3-1. Game 5 is Friday (7 p.m.) at the Grant Fuhr Arena. If necessary, the final two games of the series are Saturday and Sunday in Spruce Grove.
