Seven AJHL Players Identified in NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings

NHL Central Scouting released the Final Rankings for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft on Tuesday morning.  Seven AJHL Players from four different teams were identified in the Final Rankings.  Brandon Hickey of the Spruce Grove Saints is the highest ranked player at #63 on the list of North American Skaters.

The AJHL players include:

  • Brandon Hickey, Spruce Grove #63
  • Tanner MacMaster, Camrose #120
  • Nicholas Jones, Sherwood Park #158
  • Rhett Gardner, Okotoks #167
  • Tyler Busch, Spruce Grove #168
  • Nikolas Koberstein, Olds #205
  • Marshall Donald, Sherwood Park #209

AJHL defencemen Carson Soucy and Mike Williamson of the Spruce Grove Saints were selected in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.  Since 1980, 81 players have been drafted directly from the Alberta Junior Hockey League.  Joe Colborne of the Camrose Kodiaks is the highest drafted AJHL player in League history after being selected in the first round and 16th overall by the Boston Bruins in 2008.
