Steel’s Drive for Five

The St. Albert Steel today announced their campaign to drive ticket sales in the community. Among the many marketing initiatives, which include blast emails to Chamber of Commerce Members and print advertising, the Steel are calling on the community and local business to help with the initiative.
“We are a valuable part of the community, and an important program for players, creating opportunities for young athletes to achieve the next level.” says Head Coach Greg Parks. “We have seen a steading decline every year, since our inaugural season in 2007, going from 454 season ticket holders down to 117 last season, making it impossible to operate a Junior A franchise with these numbers.”
We currently have some great corporate partners allowing us to be involved in many community initiatives, including donating tickets to school programs and St. Albert Minor Hockey, going forward we hope to do more. St. Albert’s team is moving towards keeping everything close to home “It’s important that we keep it local.” says Assistant Coach Wes Werhun. “We are looking to have more local players on the team, and keeping strong connection to the community.”
If you’re a hardcore hockey fan, junior A hockey is where it’s at. If you’re not a hardcore hockey fan, Steel athletes invite you to learn and enjoy the game. For example, the St. Albert Steel, of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, has seen numerous players land post-secondary opportunities in Canada and the US. For under $300, gets you 30 home game tickets to use as you wish – all at once or individually. Since tickets are not dated, this gives the ultimate flexibility, making it perfect for corporate ticket holders who can use them as staff incentive or client appreciation.
