Assistant Captain Tanner Komzak has committed to the University of North Dakota to play for the Fighting Hawks. The Hawks play in the powerhouse NCHC Conference and are widely regarded as one of the most storied Hockey programs in the NCAA.
Currently led by long-time Head Coach Brad Berry, the program has won eight National Championships in their history.
The North Vancouver, BC, native has had two strong seasons with the Wolverines after two seasons in the BCHL. Tanner has put up career highs with 11 goals and 43 points in 44 games so far this season, both marks are second in franchise history for a single season. The 6’4 rearguard is also know for his defensive and physical presence on the ice.
“Tanner has come along away from when we acquired him based on one of our scouts recommendations,” stated Wolverines Head Coach Shawn Martin.
Martin adds, “He is a tireless worker that knows what he needs to do to help his team win every night.”
Tanner had this to say about his commitment, “I am excited to join the University of North Dakota and I want to thank everyone in my inner circle from my family and close friends to my coaches who have helped me along the way. I look forward to continuing my education and pursing my hockey goals in the rich history of North Dakota.”
On behalf of the Wolverines organization, we want to congratulate Tanner and his family on this achievement and wish him the best of luck with his time remaining in Whitecourt and his future with the Fighting Hawks.
