The AJHL and the Fort McMurray Oil Barons recognized Coach and General Manager Gord Thibodeau on coaching 1,000 regular season games behind an AJHL bench prior to the Northern Classic on Friday.
Gord Thibodeau is only the second Coach in League history to reach the 1,000 game mark.
When asked, Gord states his main motivation for coaching is to develop young players on and off the ice and to prepare them for the next level. Over his career he has secured opportunities to succeed for hundreds of his players:

- 46 WHL commitments
AJHL President Craig Cripps and Edmonton Oilers President Patrick LaForge presented a Silver Stick to Coach Thibodeau to mark the milestone.
