Thunder Players Commit to College for 2012/2013

The Drayton Valley Thunder is proud to announce that forward Tyler Helton has committed to the University of Connecticut Huskies and defenceman Trammell Lynes has committed to the Concordia University Falcons.

Helton is a 1991 born forward, and will join the University of Connecticut Huskies (Atlantic Hockey) for the 2012-2013 season. “The Drayton Valley Thunder congratulates Tyler on realizing his goal of playing Division 1 College hockey. ‘Helts’ made a very positive impact on all of us while demonstrating qualities both on and off the ice that he should be proud of,” said Thunder Coach Fran Gow. “His skill set, reliability and compete level made him a valuable member of the Thunder. All the best to Tyler as he continues to combine hockey and education at UConn.”

Thunder graduate, Trammell Lynes, will join the Concordia University Falcons of the MCHA for the upcoming 2012/2013 season. Thunder Coach Fran Gow stated, “The Drayton Valley Thunder congratulates Trammell on accepting a position on the Concordia University Falcons and achieving his goal of playing at the Collegiate level. Dependability and intensity describe attributes that ‘Tram’ brought to the Thunder and it will not take long for the Falcons to see the same. We wish all the best for Trammell at Concordia.”

Lynes and Helton are the first Thunder players to commit to a post-secondary institute from the 2011-2012 Thunder roster.
