CALGARY, Alberta – The CJHL 3 Stars for January 2014 are defenceman Trey Phillips (Canmore Eagles, AJHL), and forwards Nathan Todd (Brockville Braves, CCHL) and Daniel Del Paggio (Thunder Bay North Stars, SIJHL).
1st STAR – TREY PHILLIPS, D, Canmore Eagles, AJHL (9 GP, 3 G, 9 A, 12 PTS, 1.33 PPG)
Canmore Eagles defenceman, Trey Phillips, scored 3 goals and 12 assists in nine games throughout January to extend his point streak to 12 games and a total of 19 points. Phillips received the Player of the Game Award four times in January. The 20 year-old leads all AJHL defencemen in scoring and is 8th overall in the AJHL Scoring Race with 56 points. Phillips is averaging 1.1 points per game and has scored 11 powerplay goals, 19 powerplay assists and 4 game winning goals. Trey Phillips (Okotoks, AB) is committed to the University of Vermont for the 2013-2014 season.
2nd STAR – Nathan Todd, F, Brockville Braves, CCHL (11 GP, 7 G, 11 A, 18 PTS, 1.64 PPG)
Forward Nathan Todd of the Brockville Braves had a great month in the Central Canada Hockey League, accumulating 18 points in 11 games. The Kemptville, ON native was selected as a 1st Game Star in two games and has been a key piece in keeping the Braves a playoff contender. Nathan has recorded a point in 16 of his last 17 games, and in 12 consecutive games. He leads Brockville in scoring with 65 points and is currently 6th overall in league scoring.
3rd STAR – DANIEL DEL PAGGIO, F, Thunder Bay North Stars, SIJHL (12 GP, 12 G, 15 A, 27 PTS, 2.25 PPG)
Thunder Bay North Stars forward, Daniel Del Paggio, had a stellar first month of 2014 accumulating a total of 27 points in 12 contests. Del Paggio had points in all 12 games played, notching 12 goals and doling out 15 assists. The hometown boy also supplied a pair of game winning tallies and set-up another game winner. Del Paggio ended January on an impressive 21-game point streak and has currently recorded a point in 35 of his past 36 match-ups. As the second youngest player in the SIJHL, Del Paggio leads the league in point-per-game average at 2.10 and sits second overall in goals, assists and points with 34, 52 and 86 respectively.
