WEEKLY PLAYER AWARDS FOR CABANA, O’HALLORAN AND MCARA

Lloydminster Bobcats Captain, Caden Cabana, is the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week.  The 2003 forward scored four goals and registered six points in a three-game South swing over the weekend.

Cabana (Bonnyville, AB) opened the scoring and added an assist on the first game of the road trip on October 27th, but the Bobcats would fall 6-3 to the Okotoks Oilers.  Cabana scored two goals the following night, including a short-handed goal, and added an assist on the game winner in a 5-2 finish in Canmore.  He completed the road trip with his second short-handed goal in as many games in a 6-3 loss to the Calgary Canucks on October 29th.  Cabana was recognized as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game on both October 27th and 29th.

Caden Cabana has spent the past four seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and is currently tied for 12th in AJHL Scoring with 19 points (9G, 10A).  He leads the team in scoring and is enjoying a five-game point streak totaling 11 points.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Ethan O’Halloran of the Okotoks Oilers.  The 2003-born defenceman had four points (2G, 2A) in three victories during the week of October 23-29th.

The Oilers exploded offensively last week with 21 goals, while O’Halloran and the Oilers defence held off their opponents to record three consecutive wins.  Okotoks defeated Drumheller by a score of 7-2 on October 26th with O’Halloran scoring two goals.  The Oilers posted a 6-3 win over the visiting Lloydminster Bobcats the following night.  On October 29th, Ethan added two assists in an 8-1 win over Drayton Valley.

In his fourth AJHL season, O’Halloran (Calgary, AB) is fifth overall amongst all defenceman with 15 points (4G, 11A) and is an Alternate Captain for the Oilers.

Jack McAra of the Bonnyville Pontiacs is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week with a six-point performance in three victories.  The 2005 forward is third amongst all AJHL rookies in scoring with 15 points (3G, 12A).

McAra (Burlington, ON) opened the scoring on October 25th and the Pontiacs went on to defeat the Sherwood Park Crusaders 7-4.  Jack assisted on all three Bonnyville goals on October 27th as the Pontiacs took a 3-2 overtime win versus the Grande Prairie Storm.  The rookie tallied another two assists on October 28th in a 5-1 win over Grande Prairie.
