The Grande Prairie Storm is proud to announce that ’05 Forward and Assistant Captain Zachary Wilson has committed to the Niagara University Men’s Hockey (ACHA) program for the 2026-27 season. Wilson, a Wetaskiwin, AB native, came to the Storm in January 2023, and has since suited up for 156 games in a Storm jersey and has worn the “A” for the Storm for two seasons. He received the team Community Involvement award in 2024, and the Two-way Player Award in 2025.
Storm GM Mark Bomersback said, “We’re very happy for Willy. Seeing him develop as a player and grow as a person since he first arrived here four years ago has been a pleasure to watch. He has been a huge part of the organization’s success and the culture of the team, especially these last few years. He will be missed by all of us in Grande Prairie. We can’t thank him enough for his contributions in the community and on the ice. He wore the Storm logo with pride and wore his heart on his sleeve. Thank you Zach and all the best in Niagara!”
Wilson added, ” I’m super excited to commit to Niagara and have the chance to experience the culture out East. I think it will be different from home and give me the ability to meet a lot of new people and learn even more life lessons. I want to thank my family, coaches, staff and friends who have helped me and pushed me to get to where I am now. I’m looking forward to the future. The work continues!”
Congratulations to Zach and the Wilson family!
