Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that defenceman Max Wutzke (1999) has committed to the Hamilton College Continentals for the 2020-21 season.
?Max was the ultimate defenceman for our group this season,? said General Manager Kyle Chase. ?His ability and leadership, along with being a great teammate, was something that Max has perfected. We are so happy for Max and his family at this time.?
The Hamilton College is located in Clinton, New York. They are an NCAA Division III team that play in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. The Continentals are coached by Rob Haberbusch who has been with the program since the 2011-12 season.
Wutzke joined the Crusaders last summer after being acquired from the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL. In his one season with the Crusaders, the Calgary native played in all 58 games scoring a career-high 23 points and scored his lone goal against the Lloydminster Bobcats on February 17th, 2020. Wutkze wrapped up his junior hockey career with 174 games played and 41 points (2 goals, 39 assists).
?The amount of adversity that Max has faced in his young life has made him the man he is today,? said Chase. ?Congratulations to Max and his parents Jelaine and Wyatt and his brother Nolan.?
Wutzke is the ninth Crusader to earn a post-secondary commitment, joining Jacob Kendall (Red Deer College), Carter Gylander (Colgate University), Ty Mueller (University of Nebraska-Omaha), Will Zapernick, Jarred White (University of Alabama-Huntsville), Reid Irwin, Carter Savoie, and Michael Benning (University of Denver).
The Crusaders wish to congratulate Max and his family on this outstanding achievement and wish him the best of luck in the future.
