Austin Wong Commits To Harvard University Crimson

Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are proud to announce that 2000 born forward Austin Wong (Cochrane, AB) has committed to attend and play for the Harvard University Crimson.

Located in Cambridge Massachusetts, the Crimson play in the NCAA’s Eastern College Athletic Conference under 13 year Head Coach Ted Donato.   The Crimson have won 9 ECAC Championships, 27 Ivy League titles and were the NCAA Champions in 1989.

Wong, 17, is a second year Oiler scoring 20 points in his 2016-17 rookie season (10 goals, 10 assists) and currently has eight points in eight regular season games in his sophomore season with the Oilers (4 goals, 4 assists).

The team is proud to announce Wong as the first ever Oiler in franchise history to commit to Harvard.

Head Coach & Director of Hockey Development Tyler Deis states, “We are extremely fortunate to have Austin in our lineup.  He adds a dynamic to our bench that is unlike anyone else and carries with him a unique presence on the ice.  A fierce competitor on the ice, but a genuine character off the ice.  We are extremely proud of Austin’s accomplishments and look forward to the remainder of his stay with us as an Oiler.”

The Oilers would like to congratulate Austin on his achievements both on and off the ice, and for his dedication to the organization and in the community.

Wong is the third current Oiler on the 2017-18 roster to commit to an NCAA Division I institution, as he joins Jacob Bernard-Docker (University of North Dakota) and Dylan Holloway (University of Wisconsin).
