Bobcats Name Kinniburgh Captain Ahead of Camp

Lloydminster, AB ? The Lloydminster Bobcats are set to open training camp for the 2020-21 season on Tuesday, September 15th. The Bobcats are thrilled to announce 20 year old defenseman Gunner Kinniburgh as the team?s captain this season!

Kinniburgh, who is from Lethbridge, AB, is entering his fourth season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and second with the Bobcats. A veteran of the league who has played 170 games in the AJHL, Gunner has 36 points to go with 170 penalty minutes. Kinniburgh will be leading a team with 14 players returning from the youthful squad of the 2019-20 seasons. In a year like no other the season will start with a Development Season while the league prepares for the green light to move forward with the regular season.  This is the response to the pandemic and aligns with all public health guidelines.

?It is a very exciting day for us to announce Gunner as our captain before we get back on the ice next week. Gunner has a ton of experience in our league and knows our organization and what is needed leading the group forward. We will have a very strong leadership group starting with our captain. Last season we had an entire new group in the room and a very youthful squad.  We have the biggest core group coming back to the Border City in several years. I believe it is imperative for us to have our leader appointed in advance of the season? stated Head Coach and General Manager Nigel Dube.

The Bobcats will hit the ice at the Civic on Tuesday as they prepare for the season. The arena is closed to the public and there will be an announcement at the start of next week as to how the fans will be able to check out this year?s roster.  Stay tuned to social media and the team website for more information moving forward.
