Fort McMurray, AB ? The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are thrilled to announce that 2001-born defenceman Kabore Dunn (Mill Bay, BC) has committed to the University of Maine Black Bears (NCAA, Division I). Dunn?s commitment to Maine will begin in fall 2020, where he intends to pursue a business degree.
?Maine is a school with a very rich history in hockey and it is an honour to have the opportunity to contribute to their growing tradition,? said Dunn. ?Hockey East is arguably the best conference in college hockey, so I?m very excited for the challenge of playing against future pros every night.?
Dunn is currently in his first season with the Oil Barons, after joining the team prior to main camp in September. In 37 games, he?s amassed 20 points (five goals, 15 assists).
?Living in Fort McMurray this year has showed me how close a community can be,? added Dunn.
?There?s nothing better than skating on the ice and having amazing fans cheering for you. I?ve been very lucky to have so much support from our coaches, who?ve trusted me and have played me in every game situation. I would not be where I am without their support and the support of my teammates.?
Dunn?s impressive play on the ice and continued development at the Junior A level has seen him earn several honours off the ice this season. In October, he was named to the NHL?s Central Scouting Watch List and the AJHL?s Defensive Player of the Week for October 21-27.
In November, Dunn was invited to Team Canada West?s selection camp for the World Junior A Challenge. And in December, Dunn received an invite to the CJHL?s Top Prospects Game, which will take place later this month in Hamilton, ON.

Dunn becomes the first Oil Baron to commit to a post-secondary this season, continuing the organization?s long history of helping players achieve post secondary scholarships to colleges and universities across North America.
