Calgary Canucks defenceman Easton Hewson has been identified in the NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings released today ahead of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The list identifies and ranks draft-eligible prospects from all major development leagues throughout North America and Europe.
Hewson (2005) is ranked as #183 among North American skaters after he was first identified at #199 in the NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings in January 2024. The Edmonton, AB defenceman has committed to the Minnesota State University–Mankato Mavericks of the NCAA Division I.
A total of six Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) players were included in the 2024 draft rankings alongside Hewson.
The final rankings feature the top 224 skaters and 32 goaltenders in North America as well as the top 136 skaters and 18 goaltenders internationally. In its 49th year of operation, NHL Central Scouting provides evaluation and scouting of draft-eligible players to NHL member clubs.
Three AJHL players were selected in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, adding to the total of 101 players that have been drafted directly from the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Cale Makar of the Brooks Bandits is the highest-ever drafted player from the Alberta Junior Hockey League, chosen fourth overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft.
The 2024 NHL Entry Draft will be held on June 28 & 29, 2024 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
