Kodiaks, Oilers, Wolverines and Bobcats Advance

The Battle of the Bears ended on Sunday night as the Kodiaks completed a series sweep of the Grizzlys in a commanding 7-2 win.  Forwards Paul Lovsin and Cole McBride each picked up 7 points in the series for the Kodiaks and lead the AJHL Playoff Scoring Race.  Camrose outscored the Grizzlys 17-5 in the best-of-five series.  The Camrose Kodiaks (2) will meet the Okotoks Oilers (3) in the Viterra AJHL South Division Semi-Final.

After some tough battles in Okotoks, the Calgary Canucks were down 2-0 and entered Sunday’s game looking to take advantage of home ice in the first home playoff game in four years.   The score was tied at 1-1 to end the 1st period, but Okotoks would hold the Canucks off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game and eventually sweep the series with a 4-1 win. 

Game Story

The Whitecourt Wolverines outscored the Fort McMurray Oil Barons 16-5 to advance to Round Two of the 2016 Gas Drive AJHL Playoffs.  Whitecourt eliminated the MOB with a 3-0 series win, which concluded in a 7-1 victory on Sunday night.  The Wolverines will meet the Lloydminster Bobcats in the next round – both teams completed the regular season with 90 points in the Viterra AJHL North Division Standings.

The 2016 RBC Cup Host Lloydminster Bobcats are one step closer on the Road to the RBC Cup.  The Bobcats scored 11 goals on Sunday night to knock the Drayton Valley Thunder out of the playoffs and advance to the Viterra AJHL North Division Semi-Final.  The series ended in a 3-0 sweep for the Bobcats as they outscored their opponents 17-7.
