Lamoureux Commits to Wilfrid Laurier University

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that co-captain Greg Lamoureux has committed to Wilfrid Laurier University for the 2013/2014 hockey season.   The Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks in Waterloo, Ontario play in the CIS – Ontario University Athletic Association.

Greg, a 1992 born forward from Calgary joined the Oilers during the middle of the 2011 – 2012 campaign after spending his previous three seasons in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants.  Greg finished his Oilers career with 21 goals and 76 points in 95 career regular season games.    As announced last week, Greg will be joining fellow Oiler teammate Tanner Olstad at Wilfred Laurier this upcoming fall.

Coach James Poole stated, “Greg was a tremendous leader for the Oilers this season based on his outstanding passion & attitude towards the game and towards his teammates.  Greg was a huge reason behind the Oiler successful end to the 2013 season and playoff run.   Greg will be sorely missed on the ice next season and in the dressing room but feel his leadership impact will be carried on by returning Oiler players for seasons to come.”

The Oilers organization would like to thank Greg for his outstanding commitment to the Oilers organization for the past two years and wish him the best of luck in his new University endeavor.
