PISARCZYK, DOHERTY AND MOLINARO SELECTED AS WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

The Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week is Calgary Canucks forward Cody Pisarczyk following a seven-point (4G, 3A) performance in the final week of the 2023-24 AJHL regular season.

The Calgary Canucks wrapped up the season with three consecutive wins and a three-game point streak for Cody Pisarczyk (Airdrie, AB).  On February 27th, the 2004-born AJHL veteran recorded two assists in a 6-1 road win versus the Canmore Eagles.  Cody scored a hat trick and added an assist as the Canucks picked up a 7-4 win over the Olds Grizzlys on March 1st then added another goal on March 2nd in the final game of a home and home series with Olds and a 5-0 shutout victory.

Canucks teammate Julian Molinaro has been selected as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week with three wins and a shutout from February 26th– March 3rd, 2024.

The 2003 goaltender led the league with a 1.67 GAA and .944 save percentage after allowing just five goals in three games and earning two Viterra AJHL Player of the Game selections through the week.  Molinaro made 34 saves in the February 27th win over the Eagles and recorded 23 saves to earn his league leading sixth shutout of the season on March 2nd.  This is the second Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week award for Julian.

Molinaro is a finalist for the 2023-24 Top Goaltender Award and completed the season second overall in the categories of goals against average (2.60) and save percentage (.916%).

The Calgary Canucks completed the season third overall in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings and will begin the 2024 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs on the weekend of March 15th-17th, 2024.

The Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week is Grande Prairie Storm forward Colin Doherty.  With six points (4G, 2A) over the week, he concluded his first AJHL season with 38 points (16G, 23A) and fifth overall among rookie skaters.

Colin Doherty (Sherwood Park, AB) complied a four-game goal streak to end the regular season and earn his second Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week award.  On February 28th, he was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game with a goal in a 3-2 loss to the league leading Whitecourt Wolverines.  The Storm hosted the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in a double header, starting with a 7-1 win on March 1st and a three-point (2G, 1A) game for Doherty.  On March 2nd, he added another goal and an assist in a 4-1 victory.

The Storm secured sixth place in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings and now meet the Olds Grizzlys in the 2024 AJHL Play-In Series.  The top five teams have automatically advanced to the 2024 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Playoffs with the bottom six teams competing in a best-of-five play-in. The winners of the play-in series will then fill spots six through eight in the opening round of the playoffs.
