Player of the Week Honours for Truman, Diaz and Traggio

The Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week is Roc Truman of the Camrose Kodiaks with five points (1G, 4A) and a Viterra AJHL Star of the Game selection to wrap up the month of October.

Truman (Lethbridge, AB) recorded the second four-point game of his four-year AJHL career on October 26th and earned his second Star of the Game award in a 5-4 loss to the Calgary Canucks.   The 20 year-old forward contributed to all four Kodiak goals with a goal and three assists.   On October 31st, Truman helped the Kodiaks to a better fate with an assist on the game winning goal in a 2-0 shutout of the Canucks.

The UMass-Lowell commit is averaging a point per game since joining the Kodiaks line up at the start of October, during which time the Kodiaks are 6-2-2.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Brown University commit Nick Traggio of the Bonnyville Pontiacs.

Traggio and the Pontiacs added three wins to their eight-game win streak with the 20 year-old picking up four points (1G, 3A) through the week, which began with a 3-2 victory over the Grande Prairie Storm on October 27th.     The Pontiacs defeated two South Division opponents with a 7-1 win over the Calgary Canucks on October 29th and 4-3 final versus the Canmore Eagles on October 30th.   Nick scored a goal and two assists against Calgary and added another assist in the Canmore win

Traggio and the Pontiacs are one point out of first place in the Viterra AJHL North Division with a game in hand and his defensive squad is tied with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons for the fewest goals against in the Viterra AJHL North Division.  

Fort McMurray Oil Barons defenceman Simon Diaz is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week after leading all rookies in scoring from October 25th-31st, 2021 with five points (2G, 3A).

Diaz, 18, scored the game winning goal and recorded a four-point game with two goals and two assists on October 26th as Fort McMurray defeated the Grande Prairie Storm 7-3.   The Calgary, AB native recorded his seventh assist of the season in a 5-2 win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders on October 29th.   The Oil Barons completed the double header and picked up their fourth consecutive win with a 7-1 win versus the Cru on October 30th.

Diaz and his Oil Barons are tied with the Bonnyville Pontiacs for the fewest goals against in the Viterra AJHL North Division.   The MOB are also tied with the Spruce Grove Saints for first place in the division with 28 points and a record of 14-4-0.
