The Bonnyville Pontiacs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League invite applications for the position of General Manager. The Pontiacs are a community-owned organization that have consistently been a top-tier team in the AJHL, and have just celebrated their 30th anniversary of League membership. This is a full time position.
The General Manager will:
-Identify and recruit players capable of playing at the Junior “˜A’ level
-Contribute and sustain a program that promotes success, player development and career progression
-Create and sustain a winning team culture
-Be responsible for staff including coaches, administration and marketing personnel
-Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, fans, volunteers and sponsors
-Prepare annual budgets for the operations of the program
-Carry out additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the Board of Directors
-Report directly to the Board of Directors
Qualifications:
-A strong network of recruitment resources
-A proven track record of successful hockey management
-Skilled in mentorship, leadership and conflict resolution
-Demonstrated ability to develop players in preparation for play at higher levels
-An understanding of basic business principles including accounting, sales, marketing and human resource management
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
-Ability to work co-operatively with others in a team environment
-Strong communication skills both verbal and written
