SILVERBERG, SAWYER AND BROWN NAMED AS WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

Forward Jack Silverberg of the Okotoks Oilers is the Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week.  The Dartmouth College commit extended his 12-game point streak with nine points (3G, 6A) in four games played.

Jack Silverberg (Sherwood Park, AB) opened the New Year with an assist in a 2-1 win over the Camrose Kodiaks.  On January 3rd, he scored two goals and two assists in a 9-2 road win versus the Calgary Canucks then recorded a three-point (1G, 2A) game in a 6-1 win over the visiting Lloydminster Bobcats on January 5th.  The Oilers recorded a fourth consecutive win on January 7th when they shutout the Drayton Valley Thunder and Jack picked up his 24th assist on the season.

Silverberg (2004) is in his third AJHL season and is currently within the Top 20 Scorers with 42 points (18G, 24A) in 34 games.  He recently represented the AJHL as Captain of Team Canada West at the 2023 World Junior A Challenge.

Teammate Rylan Brown is the AJHL Defensive Player of the Week with seven points from January 1st-7th, 2024.  Brown and the Oilers defensive core held their opponents to just four goals against in four victories last week.

The 2005-born defenceman posted a career high five-point game with five assists in the January 3rd game versus the Canucks.  He added another two assists against his former team, the Drayton Valley Thunder, on January 7th.

Brown (Sherwood Park, AB) is committed to Michigan Tech (NCAA) and is currently third among AJHL defencemen with 37 points (5G, 32A) in 35 games played.  This is Brown’s third season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.  The Oilers are third in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings with a record of 28-13-1-1.

The Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week is Logan Sawyer of the Brooks Bandits following a six-point (3G, 3A) performance, including two game winning goals, in three victories.

Logan Sawyer is a five-time recipient of the weekly award in what has been a phenomenal rookie campaign for the 2006-born forward.  He currently leads all rookies with 52 points (22G, 30A) in 26 games played and is averaging 1.44 points per game.  He is fifth overall in the AJHL Scoring Race.

Sawyer opened 2024 with four points (2G, 2A) and the game winner in an 11-1 win at home against the Olds Grizzlys.  He scored his sixth game winning goal of the year on January 5th in a 5-3 road win in Olds.  Logan extended his point streak to four games and ten points with an assist in a 6-5 overtime win versus the Drumheller Dragons on January 6th.

Sawyer, Brown and Silverberg were all gold medalists as members of Team Canada West at the 2023 World Junior A Challenge in December.

Sawyer (Calgary, AB) is committed to Providence College (NCAA).  The Bandits hold first place in the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings and are enjoying a six-game winning streak.
