TY YODER COMMITS TO NAIT

OKOTOKS, AB  The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) today congratulate 2002-born forward and alternate captain Ty Yoder (Tofield, AB), who has committed to attend and play for NAIT in Edmonton, beginning in the 2023-24 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) season.

Joining the Oilers early in the 2021-22 season, Yoder was one of the team’s top goal scorers, tallying 31 total times and adding 23 assists for 52 points in 72 career games with the team. He ranked third in goal scoring in his first year and fifth this past season.

He was also the team’s leading playoff goal scorer over the two seasons, notching ten in two seasons.

“We’re extremely happy for Ty as he starts the next stage of his hockey career, and really grateful for what he’s done for our team these last two years,” said Oilers head coach and general manager Tyler Deis. “He was a positive influence both on the ice and in our dressing room, and we know NAIT is going to benefit from him the same way we did.”

Prior to joining Okotoks, Yoder played 116 games over four seasons in the WHL with Victoria, after being named Most Valuable Player in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CCSHL) with the Northern Alberta Extreme’s Elite 15s team, where he led the league in goals and points with 44 and 74, respectively, in 34 games.
