First year forward Spencer Rheaume has committed to the RIT Tigers who play in the Division 1 Atlantic Conference where they currently are in first place. The Tigers are led by long time coach Wayne Wilson.
The Beaverlodge, AB product is currently in his first year with the hockey club after suiting up for his hometown Grande Prairie U18 AAA Storm last season. This season Spencer has compiled 29 points in 48 games.
Wolverines GM / Head Coach Shawn Martin has high praise for the bright young forward, “One of the first things that our head scout (Doug Hergenhein) did after joining us was to get Spencer to affiliate with us and we are certainly glad that he did do that.”
“His hockey IQ is as high as I have seen at this level for a 17 year old and I believe that will translate into a very successful college career,” Adds Martin.
Spencer had this to say about his commitment, “I am very honored to commit to RIT. The coaches there are first class and the team culture is second to none. I think that it is a perfect combination of academics and hockey.”
Spencer appreciates those who have helped him along the way, “I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and trainers who have helped me get to where I am today. In addition, I would like to thank Shawn (Wolverines Head Coach) and Bryson (Wolverines Assistant Coach) for helping me through me first season in Whitecourt.”
On behalf of the Wolverines organization, we want to congratulate Spencer and his family on this achievement.
